Robbery accused shot dead in UP because of his caste: Akhilesh

Hours after UP Police claimed that they had killed one of the key accused in the armed robbery of a jewellery shop in an encounter on Thursday, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav called the encounter "staged". "Mangesh Yadav was killed because of his caste...the 'main accused' was contacted and made to surrender," Akhilesh alleged. Three other accused are in police custody.
