Rogue AI deletes professor's entire syllabus & lecture notes, was asked to only renumber pages

University of Chicago Constitutional Law Institute's Faculty Director William Baude revealed that a rogue Claude AI agent deleted his entire syllabus for the fall 2026 semester, along with one year's worth of lecture notes. The professor replied, "WTF!!!!" after Claude asked if the professor could restore the deleted files himself. He'd asked Claude just to renumber the pages.
