Rogue planet moons may sustain liquid water oceans for billions of years: Study
Moons orbiting starless "rogue" planets could host the key ingredient for life, liquid water oceans, for upto 4.3 billion years, creating potential long-lived habitats in deep space, a new study suggests. Researchers identified tidal heating and dense hydrogen atmospheres as key factors preventing oceans from freezing. "The cradle of life does not necessarily require a sun," the lead author said.
