Roman-era mosaic featuring 'Emerald' cat, 'Ocean' dog found in Turkey

Archaeologists excavating the ancient city of Adramytteion in Türkiye have uncovered a mosaic from the ruins of a Roman-era villa. The colourful mosaic, depicting over a dozen mythological and real animals, features a cat with an inscription identifying it as "Emerald" and a dog named "Ocean". The engravings could be memorialising its rich owner's beloved pets, archaeologists said.
