Roman mosaic shows woman fighting beast in arena, study finds

A drawing on a third-century Roman mosaic shows a topless huntress fighting a "beast", visibly a leopard, with a whip, a study by the University of California found. While ancient texts say some women battled beasts in arenas of the Roman Empire, this is the first known visual evidence of it. The mosaic was discovered in France's Reims in 1860.
