Romanian Mayor re-elected by locals despite dying of Covid-19 days before polls

Romanian villagers have re-elected their Mayor, Ion Aliman, by a landslide even though he died due to Covid-19 around 10 days before the elections. A video shared on social media showed dozens of villagers visiting Aliman's grave to light candles after voting had ended. "It's your victory...Know that you will be proud of us. Rest in peace," a local said.
