Rome hosts Lebanon-Israel talks focused on Israeli troop withdrawal

Lebanon and Israel have resumed two-day talks at the US embassy in Rome over the withdrawal of Israeli troops from south Lebanon under a US brokered deal. Israel maintains a roughly 10 km "buffer zone" along the border, saying it protects northern communities from ⁠Hezbollah attacks. Hezbollah has rejected both ​the agreement and efforts to disarm the group.
