Russia announces increased troop deployment in Far East

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu on Thursday said that Russia is sending reinforcements to the Far East in response to rising tensions in the wider region. The region will receive over 500 units of new and modernised equipment, Shoigu added. A Russian spokesman said Russia's concerns in the Far East centred around the actions of powers from outside the region.
