Russia backs expanding UNSC permanent seats, veto rights

Russia has backed expanding the permanent membership of the United National Security Council (UNSC), which currently has five permanent members, the Kremlin said. It also supported the veto rights of permanent members amid Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's criticism of the provision. Notably, Britain, China, France, Russia ​and the United States are the five permanent members of the UNSC.
