Russia has proposed to resume direct flights with the US as part of ongoing efforts to revive bilateral relations. The US suspended flights and closed its airspace to Russian airlines in 2022, along with other Western countries, amid the escalation of the Ukraine war. In response, Russia banned flights from 36 countries, including EU member states and Canada.
