Russia provides $9 billion funding for Turkey's 1st nuclear plant
Turkey's energy minister Alparslan Bayraktar said that Russia has provided new financing worth $9 billion for a nuclear power plant, being built by Russian state nuclear energy company Rosatom, in Akkuyu. Expected to be operational from 2026, this will mark Turkey's first nuclear power station. "[Funds] will most likely be used in 2026-2027," said Bayraktar to local media.
