Russia rejects Japan's 'dog diplomacy' ahead of Putin visit

Russia has reportedly declined to accept a dog as a diplomatic gift from Japan, during President Vladimir Putin's visit to Japan later this month. Japan wanted to gift Putin a male Akita, a large breed of dog originating from the mountainous regions of Japan. It was intended as a companion for the female Akita Japan had gifted to Putin earlier.
