Russia sentences Meta exec Stone in absentia to 6 years in jail

A Russian court sentenced Meta spokesperson Andy Stone to six-year jail for "publicly defending terrorism", a verdict passed while Stone was absent from proceedings, news agency RIA reported. An inquiry against Stone was launched in 2022 when he announced that more violent posts about Russia-Ukraine conflict would be allowed on Meta's platforms. Stone will be jailed if he visits Russia.
