Russian general accused of Kyiv hospital strike shot

Major General Nikolai Varpakhovich, accused of ordering the 2024 missile strike on Kyiv's Okhmatdyt children's hospital, was shot multiple times in Engels, Russia. He survived and was hospitalized. Ukraine's Zelenskyy hinted at responsibility, saying "Russian criminals will be found." Varpakhovich had been formally charged with war crimes days before the shooting.
