Russian hackers targeting Signal & WhatsApp users globally: Netherlands

Russian state hackers are engaged in a large-scale global attempt to compromise certain Signal and WhatsApp accounts, the Netherlands-based intelligence agencies warned. Accounts of dignitaries, military personnel, civil servants and journalists are among the targets. Responding, Signal said these attacks were executed via sophisticated phishing campaigns that trick users into sharing information.
