S Korea records its highest-ever temp of 42.5°C, issues warning

South Korea on Sunday recorded its highest-ever temperature since weather records began, prompting authorities to issue emergency warnings. The southeastern city of Yangsan hit a record 42.5°C at 1:26 pm (local time), the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said. KMA has urged people to avoid all outdoor activities and placed over 20 regions under emergency heatwave alerts.
