Saffron flower blooms in Ladakh's cold desert in record 30 days
Saffron flowers have begun blooming on previously barren land in Ladakh's Leh district in a record 30 days of plantation, against the usual two-month timeline for the first bloom. Around 90,000 Iranian saffron corms were planted across 4,000 square metres at Spituk Pharka under Project Him Sarovar. The first four days of harvesting yielded nearly 22 grams of saffron.
