Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) is reportedly going to announce a ₹400 crore Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) to reduce its workforce by 1,500 after posting heavy quarterly losses. Employees in the 46-50 years age group could be offered VRS, company officials reportedly said. The plan is expected to be approved in a board meeting scheduled to take place mid-January.
