Sandbags installed at Meenakaliya Beach near Baikampady

Authorities have installed sandbags at Meenakaliya Beach near Baikampady in Mangaluru to control severe sea erosion during the monsoon. The work is funded by a local MLA. Around 300 fishing families are affected, with nearly 7,000 residents in the area. Fishermen have demanded a permanent breakwater solution instead of temporary sandbag measures to protect the coastline.
