Sangli waste-to-energy plant ordered to shut down after protests
Authorities in Maharashtra’s Sangli ordered the shutdown of the 10-MW Bhumi Green Energy plant after local protests and a fact-finding report, according to reports. The report alleged operational and environmental violations, including non-functional pollution-control systems and untreated wastewater being released into channels near the Warana River. The plant was shut on September 23, 2026.
