#SareeTwitter has been trending on Twitter as women shared pictures of themselves in sarees with the hashtag. Several famous personalities, including actress and politician Nagma, BJP leader Nupur Sharma and actress Suzanne Bernert shared their pictures. Meanwhile, Assamese politician Gaurav Gogoi shared his wife's pictures and wrote, "Can husbands get on the #SareeTwitter train?"
