Sarojini Naidu was first woman Governor of an Indian state

Indian poet and politician Sarojini Naidu was the first woman Governor of a state in Independent India and was commissioned in Uttar Pradesh. She was also the first Indian woman to become the President of the Indian National Congress. Often referred to as the 'Nightingale of India', her 138th birth anniversary was observed on Monday.
