SBI MD Swaminathan Janakiraman appointed as RBI Deputy Governor

Government on Tuesday appointed Swaminathan Janakiraman as Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India for three years. He will succeed Mahesh Kumar Jain, whose tenure will end this week. Janakiraman is currently State Bank of India's MD. A panel comprising RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das, Cabinet Secretary, Financial Services Secretary and the Chief Economic Advisor interviewed the candidates.
