SBI ordered to pay man who lost ₹1.99 lakh while paying ₹20 electricity bill

NCDRC ordered SBI to pay ₹1.99 lakh to Bengaluru resident PK Banerjee after he was cheated using a fraud app while attempting to pay a ₹20 electricity bill. Scamsters withdrew money from Banerjee's account without asking for OTP, and Banerjee filed complaints with police and SBI the same day. NCDRC said banks can't be "absolved of liability" for fraudulent transactions.
