SBI warns customers against returning money sent by strangers
The State Bank of India (SBI) has warned customers about a 'jumped deposit' scam, in which fraudsters send money to accounts and claim it was transferred by mistake. They then pressure recipients to return the amount, potentially tricking them into authorising high-value Unified Payments Interface (UPI) transactions. SBI urged customers to remain vigilant before returning money to unknown senders.
