SC asks Centre to consider introducing Romeo-Juliet clause

The Supreme Court has asked the Government of India to consider introducing a Romeo-Juliet clause to exempt genuine adolescent relationships from the scope of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO Act). The Court remarked that misuse of the POCSO Act highlights a grim societal divide.
