SC avoids academic exercise on MLA privileges case

The Supreme Court said it would not engage in an academic exercise on legislative privileges of MLAs after Tamil Nadu Assembly informed that the 2003 resolution in question was withdrawn in 2004. CJI Surya Kant suggested leaving the question open if the issue does not survive. The bench will consider the matter on Tuesday.
