SC commutes death sentence of Rajiv Gandhi killers

The SC on Tuesday commuted the death sentence of three assassins of former PM Rajiv Gandhi to life imprisonment. The reason cited, was the 11-year delay on the part of the Centre in deciding their mercy plea. The three convicts V Sriharan, T Suthendraraja and AG Perarivlan were among 26 convicted of playing minor roles in the May 1991 assassination.
