SC condemns detention without trial, grants bail to Punjab man

Supreme Court granted bail to a Punjab man who was in jail for two years without a trial and said, "Incarceration without trial amounts to punishment." A bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and PB Varale observed that the man was arrested for attempt to murder in February 2024 but none of the 23 witnesses from the case had been examined.
