SC considers larger bench on written grounds of arrest rule after Sonam bail case

The Supreme Court on Thursday said it would consider referring to a larger bench the question of whether investigating agencies must provide written grounds of arrest to an accused. The issue arose while hearing Meghalaya government's plea against Sonam Raghuvanshi's bail. The court noted conflicting rulings by different benches and fixed the matter for July 14.
