SC orders FIRs for all missing persons, regardless of age and gender

Supreme Court directed all states and Union Territories (UTs) to immediately register FIRs whenever any person goes missing, irrespective of age and gender. Court expressed "shock" that some states believed its earlier direction applied only to missing children. It also ordered contempt notices against the chief secretary and DGP of states or UTs that failed to comply with its directive.
