SC orders Indian Oil to pay ₹12 lakh for denying Haryana woman job
The Supreme Court ordered Indian Oil Corporation to pay ₹12 lakh to Haryana woman Sumitra, who was denied a helper's job at a Karnal LPG plant in 1988 solely because she was a woman. The bench called it an "affront to womanhood" by a government undertaking, after she litigated for over three decades.
