SC overturns BJP MLC's 6-vote win in K'taka, declares Congress candidate winner

The Supreme Court overturned BJP leader MK Pranesh's 2021 election to the Karnataka Legislative Council and declared Congress candidate AV Gayathri Shanthegowda the winner. Pranesh had won the Chikkamagaluru Local Authorities' constituency by six votes. Gayathri challenged the result, arguing that 12 nominated town panchayat members, who are ineligible to vote, had been allowed to cast ballots.
