SC plea seeks refund of 'exorbitant' amounts charged for RT-PCR tests

A plea was filed on Saturday in the Supreme Court seeking a direction to Centre to ensure refund of "exorbitant" amounts charged by private labs and hospitals for RT-PCR tests for COVID-19. The plea was filed by lawyer and BJP leader Ajay Agrawal. Hospitals charged ₹4,500 for RT-PCR test while its actual cost was between ₹800 and ₹1,200, it said.
