SC questions govt's 'no training until 1 yr after childbirth' rule for female IPS officers

Supreme Court questioned the MHA's 1993 Office Memorandum (OM) requiring pregnant IPS probationers to discontinue training and resume one year after childbirth. SC said a blanket restriction may be inappropriate as recovery varies from person to person. However, it denied immediate relief to 2023-batch IPS officer Urvashi Sengar, who sought to resume Phase-II training nine months after childbirth.
