The Supreme Court's Constitution bench on Wednesday reserved its judgment on whether state governments too have the power to remit sentences in those cases in which central agencies like the CBI are the prosecutor. The bench would also decide whether the government can remit the sentence of a prisoner whose death penalty has been commuted to life.
