SC says MGNREGA did 'wonderful job', allows fresh challenge to VB-GRAM G Act

The Supreme Court disposed of a 2015 PIL pertaining to payment of compensation for delayed payments to workers in terms of MGNREGA. The court allowed petitioners to challenge provisions of VB-GRAM G Act, which replaced MGNREGA. "MNREGA did a wonderful job in the rural areas...it was a very selfless scheme...It was not a freebie kind of scheme," the court stated.
