SC threatens CBI probe over Rajasthan illegal sand mining

The Supreme Court warned the Rajasthan government of a CBI investigation into illegal sand mining along the Jojari-Luni-Bandi river system, after the state regularised unauthorised mining by issuing leases instead of penalising offenders. The court said, "If you do not mend your ways, we will be forced to order a CBI probe." Over 600 illegal mining cases have been registered.
