Schools, colleges in Mumbai shut amid red alert for rain on July 4

All schools and colleges in Mumbai have been shut for the afternoon session on July 4, the BMC announced. This comes as the IMD issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) for Saturday. The BMC also appealed to citizens to remain indoors and step out only if "absolutely necessary".
