Schools shut as Chennai braces for heavy rain amid Cyclone Murasu

Cyclone Murasu has intensified into a severe cyclonic storm and is moving towards the Andhra Pradesh coast after passing close to Chennai. The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, strong winds and rough seas across parts of Tamil Nadu. Schools and colleges in Chennai and schools in Tiruvallur remained closed on November 2 as authorities urged residents to follow safety advisories.
