Scientists bake sourdough bread from yeast of 5,300-year-old mummy
Scientists from the Institute for Mummy Studies at Eurac Research successfully baked a sourdough bread using yeast from a 5,300-year-old mummy called Otzi the Iceman. The scientists are also considering making beer from the yeast and have discussed ideas with a German brewing expert. "These yeasts are remarkable because they are adapted to very cold temperatures," the researchers added.
