Scientists create new 'Tree of Life'

Scientists have redesigned the 'Tree of Life', a diagram depicting the evolution and diversification of life on the planet, after studying the DNA of 1,011 newly discovered and 2,072 known species. The new tree revealed that eukaryotes, which include humans, represent a small percentage of the world's biodiversity while the single-celled organisms – bacteria and Archaea – comprise the majority.
