Researchers at ETH Zurich have developed an archive function that allows them to look into a cell's past for the first time. The method stores RNA molecules inside cells for several days, helping scientists identify which genes were active earlier. One key advantage is that information can be obtained on cells that are only subsequently identified as being of interest.
