Scientists discover a process that stabilises fusion plasmas

Researchers at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory have discovered a process that can help control plasma disruptions in fusion devices, which are being developed to generate electricity. They found magnetic islands which create plasma disruptions can be stopped from growing by the concentration of radio frequency (RF) current inside the island.
