Scientists discover lost civilisation that lived in Amazon rainforest 1,500 yrs ago

According to a study published in Nature, a patch of the Amazon rainforest may have been home to nearly 3 million people around 1,500 years ago. Researchers discovered over 400 well-preserved earthwork monuments, ceremonial sites and roads hidden beneath the dense forest. They named the civilisation Aquiry, after the Indigenous Iñapari name for the Acre River, an Amazon tributary.
