Scientists discover where hidden 'third eye' in brain originated from

Scientists have discovered what they believe to be ancient origin of a hidden light-sensing organ inside human head, tracing it back nearly 600 million years. A study suggests the gland and human retina evolved from same ancient third eye-like organ in early sea creatures. It still helps regulate sleep by producing melatonin, despite no longer being directly exposed to sunlight.
