Scientists find never-before-seen animal in the Great Salt Lake

Scientists at the University of Utah have identified a never-before-seen roundworm species living in microbialites of the Great Salt Lake. The tiny nematode, endemic to the lake, survives extreme salinity and may help regulate microbes. The find highlights hidden biodiversity, and the fragility, of the shrinking lake’s ecosystem.
