Scientists say Antarctica hides huge reserves of gold, silver

Scientists say that melting ice could expose over 1 lakh sq-km of ice-free land in Antarctica by 2300, which may contain huge reserves of gold, silver, copper, and iron. This could lead to renegotiations of treaties governing Antarctica, they added. As per the study, the largest land emergence is likely to occur over territories claimed by Argentina, Chile and UK.
