Scientists spot planet with most eccentric orbit

San Francisco State University scientists have spotted an extrasolar planet, around 117 light-years from Earth, that has the most eccentric or elliptical orbit ever seen. With a measured eccentricity of 0.96, the planet, at its farthest, is separated from its star by 2.5 times the Earth-Sun distance, while at its closest, the same distance becomes 0.06 times the Earth-Sun distance.
