Scientists uncover secret behind large spider-like blob on Europa
Scientists have analysed a spider-like feature on Jupiter's moon Europa, dubbed 'Damhán Alla', Gaelic for 'spider' or 'wall demon'. Researchers suggest such blobs may be the festering wounds formed by torrents of water erupting through Europa’s icy shell. "Surface features like these...could point to local brine pools below the surface," lead author Lauren McKeown said.
